Addition of doubles wheel of fortune game - math game for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th grades. Doubles (2+2, 3+3, and so on) are mathematical factors to memorize; they can be used to quickly solve other addition math facts in two steps: solving the doubles fact and then adding or subtracting from that sum.
To double a number means adding the same number to itself. For example, double of 3 is 3 + 3 = 6. It is easy to remember the numbers that we get by doubling one-digit numbers. Doubles in addition:
The addition of any two numbers following each other can be done by using doubles of it plus 1 or minus 1 strategy.
Example: 3 + 4
The number 4 is one more than 3. So, we can write 4 as 3 + 1. So, the addition 3 + 4 = 7
Remember, the double of 3 is 6.
So, the sum is one more than double. That is 7. Therefore, 3 + 4 = 7.
Example: 4 + 5
The number 4 is one less than 5. So, we can write 4 as 5 – 1. So, the addition of 5 + 4 = 9
Since double of 5 is 10, so, the expected sum is one less than double. That is 9. Therefore, 5 + 4 = 9.
This Doubles plus 1 and doubles minus 1 can also be referred to as doubles strategy.
This can also be extended to the numbers that are not immediately next to each other.
